10,000 pupils displaced over herdsmen attack
Benue state ministry of education says 10,000 pupils are now out of school following the attacks by herdsmen militia in the wake of the New Year.
The commissioner for education, Prof Dennis Tyavya, who disclosed this to newsmen in Makurdi, said effort is on to arrange classes for them since their schools have been destroyed before they go back in couple of weeks.
More than 80,000 persons are said to be displaced in six camps many of whom are women and children in Guma and Logo local government area of the state and their homes destroyed.
But the member representing Logo constituency in the state House of Assembly, said he would interact with the necessary agencies on what to do to assist the school children who are now out of school.
Our correspondent reports that there are still fears and apprehension from villagers in the various communities over herdsmen attacks which has continually swell the IDP camps.
