IGP Appoints Anietie Okokon As New Force PRO
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the appointment of CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, as new Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Force Headquarters, Abuja, of the Nigeria Police Force.
The former Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, in a statement indicated that Iniedu is an experienced officer with expertise in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability and administration.
According to Placid, before his appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and initiatives, aimed at improving transparency, accountability and public trust in the police.
The Akwa Ibom State indigene has also held several strategic positions, including Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Ogun State, Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat and Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa.
He also served as Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information across the country.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department and strengthen public engagement as policing reforms continue nationwide.
Iniedu takes over from Anthony Okon Placid, who was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in March 2026, on exit of Benjamin Hundeyin.
