Drama At Federal High Court Abuja As DSS Move Sowore To Kuje Prison

There was a mild drama at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, as supporters of the presidential candidate of African Action Congress, AAC, in the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, chided officials of the Department of security service, DSS, for violently taking Sowore out of the courtroom to the DSS vehicle outside the courtroom for movement to Kuje Correctional Centre.

The supporters were protesting the manner the DSS operatives were roughly pushing Sowore into their vehicle to be taken to the Correctional Centre on the order of the Federal high Court, Abuja.

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, in a ruling on Monday, ordered Sowore to be kept in the prison pending the hearing and determination of his motion for stay of the order for revocation of his bail and bench warrant.

This was after Justice Umar also dismissed Sowore's application seeking the judge's recusal from the case on the ground of alleged bias.

Immediately after the ruling, supporters of Sowore expressed displeasure over the judgement, a development that forced the security operatives to shut all gates leading to the Federal High Court.

Sowore's supporters were seen outside the court trying to prevent officials of the DSS from moving their leader to Kuje Prison as ordered by the court.

The DSS, however, weathered the storm to take Sowore to the Kuje Correctional Centre.
