Court Sentences Ex-Lafarge CEO To 6 Years Imprisonment For Terrorism Financing

A court in France has sentenced former CEO of Lafarge, Bruno Lafont, to six-years imprisonment on charges of terrorism financing. The court found Lafont guilty of paying $6.5 million to terrorist organizations, like ISIS in Syria.

The court in the judgment found that Lafarge has been involved in “commercial partnership” with militants to protect its profits and maintain production at its Jalabiya factory despite ongoing conflict.

The court while imposing millions of dollars fine on the company, it confined Lafont to immediate commencement of jail term.
