NCC advocates for new technology innovations

 The Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC has organised a two-day capacity building training for critical stakeholders in the ICT sector in the North East Zone for enhancement of new technological innovations for tech-entrepreneurship.

While Delivering his keynote address at the workshop in Yola, the Chief Executive of the Commission, said that the commission in its effort to encourage tech entrepreneurship and innovation in the ICT sector embarked on visitations to various tech startups across the six geopolitical zones to assess their development and challenges.

The Chief executive of the commission who was represented by Dr.Chedi Diugwu stated that as a key policy of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, the meeting has become necessary so that solutions to the challenges facing the sector can be found.

According to him, the ICT innovation Forum has become necessary to promote local content with an emphasis on the Tech ecosystem identifying unmet needs and facilitate public-private-partnership.

The Executive Commissioner, Technical Services of the commission, represented by Director Research and Development of the Commission, Ephram Owukunya and guest speaker said the emerging Technology research and innovation Forum has been designed to advance the commission's agenda of promoting ICT innovation, tech entrepreneurship to facilitate local content development while leveraging on the power of digital technology to position Nigeria for 21st century digital revolution 

Earlier in his address, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri pledged to support the move stressing that any country must strive to meet the globally competitive world in the area of ICT.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Engineer Bashir Ahmad stated that the administration of Gov.Fintiri with its topmost priority of education all necessary cooperation will be accorded to the innovative drive.

Our correspondent reports that participants were driven from the six states of the North-East zone including; Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Taraba. Yobe and Bauchi respectively.
