Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in exchange of fireworks, overwhelmed terrorists who attempted to attack Charlie 13 location in Monguno, Borno State.

The Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, in a statement indicated that the insurgents were engaged in fierce gun battle and were forced to flee, with troops retaining control of the area.

However, tragedy struck when the Commanding Officer, moving to assess the situation, became victim of Improvised Explosive Device. Unfortunately, the Commanding Officer and six other soldiers were killed in the blast.

The military described the officer’s actions as courageous and selfless, highlighting his commitment to lead from the front.

Operation HADIN KAI said the sacrifice of the fallen personnel will not be forgotten.
