Supreme court dismisses Giwa's application

The Supreme Court in Abuja has dismissed an application by Chris Giwa praying it to bring forward the date for the resumption of hearing on an application seeking to relist the suit challenging the election of the Amaju Pinnick-led Board of the Nigeria Football Federation [NFF].

The Supreme Court, in delivering its ruling on the said motion by Chris Giwa Monday noted that the decision to adjourn the case till 9th of May was due to consideration for convenience of the court and all circumstances in that regard, and that the applicant had however failed to show any special circumstance that should warrant the Court bringing the date forward.

On that basis the Court deemed the motion incompetent, as such refused and dismissed it.

In their early arguments, the counsel to Chris Giwa, Patrick Ikwueto said the need for urgency in hearing the matter stems from the fact that the case is time-bound . while counsel to the NFF, Festus Keyamo argued that the motion by Chris Giwa was unnecessary, and such should be dismissed

The Counsel to the Applicant gave details on what made the need to relist the case necessary.
