Embassy stops NFF chiefs
South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi would arrive in London on Thursday as the Chippa United star had yet to secure a visa to travel to England.
The arrival of Austria Wien’s goalscoring sensation Olarenwaju Kayode and on-loan Sporting Gijon left-back Elderson Echiejile increased the number of players in the Eagles’ Crowne Plaza camp to 19.
Olajire confirmed that Chelsea star Victor Moses would not feature in the two games as he is currently on the treatment table following an injury he sustained while playing for his Premier League club.
Meanwhile, the British High Commission on Tuesday denied three senior staff members of the NFF visas allegedly on the ground that they had failed to fulfil all the requirements.
NFF Technical Director Bitrus Bewarang; Director of Competitions Bola Oyeyode; and Head of Protocol Unit Tunde Aderibigbe were turned back.
It was learnt that the NFF chiefs were told that their visas were being delayed because they had not visited the UK for some time now.
