Rural Dwellers Live Without Toilet Facilities In Rivers

Rural dwellers in a community adjacent to Port Harcourt, live without toilet facilities. They take to open defecation in their surrounding.

Apparently, residents of Ala Pollo, Isik Alama, a suburb of Port Harcourt Township, face threat of epidemic over non-availability of toilet facilities.

They have become vulnerable to health hazards, living without hygiene and sanitation safety.

The community is in a local government area that is part of the Greater Port Harcourt metropolis. City expansion and rapid urbanization have distributed the urban population into the community. The population growth called attention to improvements of infrastructure to meet new needs of the residents.

Accordingly, residents of the community demand the intervention of the Rivers State Government to provide toilet facilities, and other amenities.
