Pensioners Cry Out Over 38-96 Months Unpaid Arrears In Benue

Pensioners of the Benue State Civil Service have cried out over the failure of Governor Hyacinth Alia-led government to pay their entitlements running from 38 - 96 months arrears of pension and gratuity. They called on the governor to pay their entitlement to enable them to pay bills.

The pensioners, under the umbrella of Benue Concerned pensioners, said they can no longer be feeding from hand to mouth, lamenting that more of their members are dying daily.

The Chairman of Benue Concerned Pensioners, Alex Orban, leading members at their Secretariat office in Makurdi, to demand their unpaid arrears, said the Governor is paying deaf ear to their plight, even after one month of peaceful protest.

According to Orban, statistics shows that Benue is the singular state owing pension and gratuity of an immense magnitude, wondered why their pension arrears are still being owed.
