ICPC Recovers Over N5.8bn Looted Cash In Six Months

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, in a recent performance, revealed the recovery of over N5.79 billion looted cash in six months - January to June 2026, looted cash.

The ICPC in its report on Sunday, observed that corruption continues to undermine Nigeria’s security architecture by diverting resources meant for critical public services.

The anti-graft agency mainlined its anti-corruption drive aimed at strengthening accountability and national security.

The ICPC declared that “Cash recovered within the review period amounted to N5,789,681,925.02.”

The commission affirmed its commitment to safeguarding public funds, strengthen institutional integrity and promote transparency across public institutions.

The agency asserted that by safeguarding public funds and promoting transparency, ICPC is directly contributing to creating a more stable and secure environment for all Nigerians.

According to the Commission, “In the face of Nigeria’s complex security challenges, corrupt practices remain critical enablers of instability, diverting essential resources from security infrastructure and eroding public trust".

The commission revealed that it received 271 petitions in the past six-month, saying 234 cases were assigned for investigation.

The commission filed 25 cases before various courts, leading to 20 convictions.

According to the commission, “The ICPC received 271 petitions. Of the 234 cases assigned for investigation, 25 cases were successfully filed in court, resulting in 20 convictions.”
