FEC Approves ₦3.3Billion For Installation Of Full Jet Flight Simulator
The federal executive council has approved a total sum of ₦3.3Billion for the contract for the supply and installation of a full jet-flight simulator and its accessories for the Nigerian college of aviation technology Zaria.
The equipment which will serve dual purpose of training and source of revenue generation to the college according to the supervising minister for information, Nurudeen Mohammed, would be located at the Murtala Mohammed airport, Lagos.
Mohammed said the stimulator would also be used for the initial training of jet-airliner pilots in compliance with the international civil aviation organization and Nigeria civil aviation authority regulations that pilots must have refresher training every six months.
It was a normal council meeting only that members were few given resignation of those with political ambitions who left last week.
Their exit however, did not affect proceedings at the meeting as council carried out its weeking deliberation on national issues which culminated into approval of funds for installation of jet flight simulator at Lagos airport.
Supervising minister of information Nurudeen Mohammed said the contract was awarded to a Canadian company with completion period of 24 months.
Council also ratified Mr. President's approval for the award of contract for the construction of the east west road, section v, Oron to Calabar phase one in Akwa Ibom and cross river states.
Minister of Niger delta affairs Steve Oru who brought the memo seeking council’s approval said completion of the contract would reduce vehicle operating costs, open up access to various Riverine communities and the proposed ibaga seaport and increase economic activities that will be generated as well as creating employment opportunities for over 1,500 skilled and unskilled workers, including engineers, technicians and artisans.
The minister said the contract is in favour of messrs china civil engineering and Construction Company, in the sum of one hundred and sixty five billion naira with a completion period of five years.
Approval was also given for the award of contract for the supervision of construction of Calabar-oba-nsan-okoroba-ajasor road (section 1) in cross river state and construction of road/drainage at Mbaise ring road intersecting Owerri-Umahia road in Imo state.
The projects which will gulp one hundred and six point five million each upon completion will enhance the spread of infrastructure development across the entire Niger delta region.
They are to be completed with 24 months.
Council also approved award of contract to the appointment of a transaction adviser for the rehabilitation of the independence building for the National Trade and International Business Centre (NITBC) project in Lagos state.
The contract will gulp a total sum of 150 million Naira with a completion period of 12 months.
