Dogara, Italian counterpart visit IDP camp
The Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has on Monday, May 8, paid a visit to an Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp in Abuja to assess the standard of living there.
Dogara in company of the Speaker of the Italian Parliamen, Laura Boldrini, visited the New Kuchingoro IDP camp Monday afternoon as part of the efforts to explore possible ways of improving the living conditions of the hundreds of people there and at other camps within and outside Abuja.
Yakubu Dogara therefore said securing the freedom of the 82 Chibok school girls is a demonstration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promise to Nigerians.
Hon. Dogara in his speech says democracy can only thrive when the rights of every Nigerian is deemed important, he therefore noted that it was imperative that IDPs are not cut off from the overall framework towards improved welfare for all Nigerians.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Italian Parliament, Laura Boldrini said she appreciates the fact that women and children are the worse hit by the humanitarian crises that are the fallout of the insurgency in the northeast, reasons enough for immediate aid to be made available.
