Controversy Trails The Planned ₦19 Billion Loan By Amosun

The request for a fresh loan of #19 billion loan by Governor Ibikunle Amosun from members of the State House of Assembly has continue to generate controversy from the opposition parties in the State.

Already the State chapter of the Labour Party had dragged the State Government to court on the matter while others have condemned the attempt for the fresh loan of #19 billion.

Opposition parties in Ogun State have continue to kick against the proposed #19 billion loan by the state government saying, it was an attempt to put the state in a perpetual financial bondage.

It will be recalled that the Labour Party in ‎the state dragged the State Government to court over the matter. Not only this, the issue of the loan has equally divided members of the state House of Assembly.

In separate interview with Galaxy News, one of the Governorship Aspirants of the Labour party in the State, Mr. Shina Kawonise and the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria in the last elections, Gboyega Isiaka described the attempt by the State Government as reckless and that, State Government was highly in debt.

They maintained that such venture was dangerous for the socio-economic growth of the State even now that there are conflicting figures about the debt profile of Ogun State.

Mr. Kawonise and Alhaji Isiaka faulted the infrastructural ‎drive of the State Government stressing that the ongoing exercise was a mere extention of the existing roads rather than the expected construction of new ones.

They called on the well meaning indigenes of the State ‎to prevail on the State House of Assembly not to accent to the request in order to salvage the State from Financial burden.

The Commissioner for Finance in the State, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun had during a session with members of the State House of Assembly disclosed that the State was healthy for the loan being requested for by the executive arm of government in the state.

The request is still before members of the State House of Assembly with series of deliberation and consultation going on.
