Navy Strengthen Maritime Security With 10 Ships, 2 Helicopters
The Nigerian Navy has deployed 10 ships, two helicopters, Maritime domain awareness assets, among others, to combat maritime crimes.
The Navy have sustained military operations, code-named "OBANGAME EXPRESS 2026" against Maritime illegalities in the country's waterways.
The large scale deployment underscored the renewed push to strengthen regional Maritime security and counter evolving threats in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Maritime exercise, anchored by the Chief of the Naval State, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by the Chief of Operations Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Patrick Effah, performed the flag off aboard NNS Ikenne. He highlighted the aims and objectives of the exercise.
The Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Chidozie Okehie, reiterated the position of the CNS in protecting the Maritime infrastructures.
