Police Dismiss Threat of Eviction for Fulani Herdsmen in Oyo

Authorities of the Nigeria Police force have dismissed the threat of eviction issued to Fulani herdsmen and their families living in Iganagan, Ibarapa North and other parts of Oyo state by a group led by Sunday Adeyemo, otherwise known as Sunday Igboho.

Recall that Igboho had issued a seven days ultimatum for the Fulani living in the area to exist or face dare consequences following the alleged attacked on some farmers in the area.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 11, Agunbiade Lasore while speaking with journalists after a tour of Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Police force said nobody has right to evict other Nigerians from their place of abode or business places adding that the ultimatum by Igboho and his men has no basis.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Lasore noted that those that should nurse the fear of eviction are criminal-minded elements in the area adding that the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantee the safety of all residents irrespective of their ethnic or religious background.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Oyo and Osun State appealed to residents of Igangan and other parts of the state to remain law-abiding adding that the full wrath of the law will take its course on anyone that trample on the rights of others.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde in a statewide broadcast yesterday had equally kicked against the seven days ultimatum handed down to Fulani herdsmen and their people in Igangan area of Oyo state by Sunday Adeyemo and his men.
