PDP Calls for Unity Purpose

The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has called for unity, discipline, and reconciliation among its members ahead of a series of critical meetings and convention aimed at repositioning the party.
Speaking during the 81st PDP Board of Trustees in Abuja, the Board chairman, Aldophus Wabara who was represented by the board National Secretary, Ahmed Makarfi, said the absence of the Board's National Chairman, who is currently out of the country, would not delay the scheduled meetings.
He emphasized that the Chairman had directed the meetings to proceed, citing their importance to the party’s ongoing rebuilding efforts.
Makarfi described the upcoming engagements as vital for the PDP’s stability, stating that they provide an opportunity to address internal challenges and chart a way forward. He stressed that the meetings are also key to attracting former and prospective members, and sending a clear message to Nigerians about the party’s readiness to lead.
He cautioned party members against making divisive public statements, urging them to differentiate between personal opinions and official party positions. According to him, only recognized party organs are authorized to communicate official views. He warned that undisciplined communication could damage the party’s image and derail its progress.
PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, aligned with Makarfi’s position. He praised members for their loyalty and reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to justice and democratic principles.
