OPWS Troops Kills Two Armed Herdsmen In Benue

Troops of the joint military Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), has killed two suspected armed militia herdsmen and injured one in a fierce gun battle at the late hours of Tuesday, at Gyungwu Amua Village in Guma local government area of Benue State.

The troops recovered one AK47 with 20 rounds of ammunition.

The armed herdsmen had stormed the village from Nasarawa state to launch an attack on the community when the troops were informed and decided to lay an ambush for the marauders.

It will be recalled barely three days the same Military Troops reportedly arrested one local militia leader popularly known as Alhaji Audu from Olegeje community in Agatu local government area of Benue state and recovered one Ak47 rifle and 60 rounds of ammunition from him during a communal clash in Agatu.

Contacting the Force Commander of OPWS, Maj. Gen. Adeyemi Yekini said he could not comment on the Guma attack and referred journalists to the Defense Head Quarters (DHQ) Information Department.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, when contacted said she was yet to receive any report of attack from the Guma axis.
