NAFDAC Clampdown On Producers Of Alcoholic Drinks In Sachets
The National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has commenced clampdown on producers of Alcohol in sachets and pet bottles below 200 mil in Ogun State.
The Taskforce team of the agency visited some factories producing the products in Ado-Odo Ota area of Ogun State.
The agency claimed that such products puts the health of consumers at risk and it has created awareness for people, especially the youth, traders and others that such product should not be in circulation after January 31st 2024.
Officials of the agency say, uncontrolled access and availability of high concentration alcohol in sachets and pet bottles below 200 millimeter have been identified as a factor contributing to substance and alcohol abuse in Nigeria.
They added that NAFDAC is currently conducting a nationwide operation as the deadline has expired and they want to ensure they phase out the production of such products.
