GOVT confirms monkey-pox suicide patient
The Bayelsa state government has confirmed that one of the patients receiving treatment for Monkey Pox at the quarantine centre of the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital has committed suicide.
This was made known at a joint briefing by the commissioner for health, Ebitimitula Etebu in Yenagoa.
Addressing newsmen, the state commissioner for health said the deceased was among the patients responding to treatment and did not die as a result of the virus.
On his part, the commissioner for information said the state government is working round the clock to curtail the situation as the health commissioner spoke on the confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, the confirmation by the Federal government of three confirmed cases of Monkey Pox outbreak in Bayelsa state, have led to the state government intensified campaign in the eight local government areas of the state.
