CNG condemns lawmakers move for the release of Nnamdi Kanu
The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has condemned the endorsement by 180 lawmakers for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Baifra.
The CNG describes this move as treacherous and an affront to the victims of terrorism attacks in Nigeria.
The body in a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Jamiu Charanchi, recall their 2017 report to the UN, advocating for Kanu's group to be designated as a terrorist organization, which was later declared by the Nigerian government in 2021.
The CNG rejected this legislative move, questioning the motives of the lawmakers, particularly those from Northern Nigeria.just as it Commended Hon. Aminu Jamo for his courageous stand against the endorsement and called on Nigerians to rise up against terrorism and those who enable it.
The body vowed to ensure that the blood of their loved ones is not in vain and that terrorism does not prevail.
