Following persistent security challenges in Apa, Agatu and other local government areas in Benue South senatorial zones of the state

A new Police Mobile Squadron, MOPOL, 80, have been established with a donation of 30 hectares of land, operational vehicles and other essential facilities.

The Odugbo community in Benue State made the donation as part of effort to enhance regional security and bolster the squadron's capacity to address the persistent security challenges in Benue South zone.

The Police Mobile Squadron,  MOPOL 80 was officially flagged off by the commandant, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Joseph Onaji, marking the commencement of full operations. 

The commandant, CSP Onaji, thanked the community for the gesture and emphasized the importance of collaboration and intelligence sharing between the police and the community, reiterating the squadron's commitment to swiftly deploying over 300 police personnel to secure the area.

The Chairman of Apa Local Government, Hon. Ochayi Alidu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Apa, and the Chief of Odugbo, Chief Simeon Otache, during the ceremony eulogize the instrumental role played by Arc. Sonny Echono in bringing this initiative to fruition.

They further assured the Commandant of ongoing support and cooperation from the Odugbo community and the construction of the Odugbo - Ugbokpo road, currently underway to enhance the operational efficiency of the squadron and improve access to surrounding communities.

Meanwhile, Member House of Representatives for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency Hon Ojotu Ojema was present at the handover ceremony of the operational vehicles.
