Akeredolu Vows to Prosecute Ex-Deputy Governor over Unreturned Vehicles

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has vowed to prosecute his former Deputy, Agboola Ajayi if the latter fails to return four officials vehicles attached to his office.

Governor Akeredolu said he would press charges against Agboola and other former political appointees who failed to return government properties in their possession.

He said it was reprehensible for Nigerians to condone the practice by elected officials or political appointees to take government properties away when leaving office.

The Ondo Governor who spoke through his Senior Special Assistance on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale, said all government appointees have been using vehicles inherited from previous administration since the inception of this administration

The SSA further lamented that the Government uses tax payers’ money to buy a new set of vehicles for the incumbent Deputy Governor.

Salami who spoke through the Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ìkoro, said he has directed an investigation into the petition.

While reacting to the allegation the Immediate past Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has said that he is in possession of two official vehicles and not four as demanded to be returned by the Ondo government.

The media aide to Agboola Allen Sowore emphasized that the formal deputy governor remains an elder stateman in the state and must be accorded that respect.

While reacting to the petition to the Ondo state police command he said his principal is ready to state his own side of the whole story.
