Warri Residents Lament a Failing PHCN
Worried by the epileptic power supply in their neighbourhood, market women, men and children in Warri metropolis took to the street in
protest over the worrisome power outage in Iyara layout and Ogbe-ijoh market which was gutted by fire earlier in the year.
The placard carrying protesters marched through various streets in Warri, before arriving at the PHCN office, where the staff were prevented from gaining access into their office, and those who came to transact business were turned back.
Meanwhile, the protest by the women, which is the second in two months was made necessary because of the earlier promise by the PHCN
to restore the broken down transformers of the people, which they(PHCN) are yet to fufil.
In the same vein, for the third time in two months, the public relations officer PHCN Mrs Anthonia Ivhurie declined to speak on
the issue when contacted.
The protesters refused to speak with journalists, due to their disappiontment with the press on the issue.
However, they promised to continue to protest till their light is restored.
