FCT Police Commissioner Orders Comprehensive Mental, Psychological Test Of Personnel

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, has ordered a comprehensive mental and psychological assessment of all personnel in the Command, as part of measures to strengthen discipline and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, in a statement, indicated that the directive followed an emergency meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Tactical Units, where he stressed the need for the highest standards of conduct, .

The Commissioner warned against misconduct, capable of damaging the image of the Force and emphasized strict adherence to human rights laws.

Senior officers have been directed to return to their respective Commands to brief their subordinates and submit compliance reports, with a warning that any officer will be held accountable for the actions of those under their supervision.

He also directed the Command’s Medical Director, Ifayase Olabanji Akinola, alongside the Police Counseling Unit, to commence a comprehensive mental health evaluation of officers, beginning with junior personnel from May 4, 2026, to enhance emotional stability and operational performance.

Residents have been urged to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.
