Frank Ocean Gets Back To Work On His Channel Orange Follow-Up
There's been no visual proof that Frank Ocean actually ended up in Shanghai to record his sophomore album, like he wanted to, but at least we can be sure that he's recording, somewhere.
Both Ocean and photographer Nabil posted a photo from the studio, on their respective Tumblr accounts. The 26-year-old, always a man of few words, didn't bother to include a caption, but Nabil confirmed that it was "Frank in the lab.. Making sophomore album game."
There have been no official releases from the Channel Orange follow-up, but last summer Ocean debuted several new tracks during European shows.
He hasn't addressed whether any of those will end up on the album, only saying that he was "10,11 songs into this next thing."
In 2013 he told MTV News that he was binging on a few artists to get him in the zone for recording.
"When I was making the first [album] there were a group of artists that I listened to, just for inspiration and to absorb the energies," he said. "It was a lot of Stevie Wonder, and this time it's a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we'll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can't say much other than that."
Earlier this month, Chipotle targeted Frank Ocean with a lawsuit for backing out of a commercial last minute, but he wasn't into the drama, simply paying them to "f--k off," so he could get back to work.
